The curettage of the cutaneous lesions is a simple procedure for the removal, from the skin, of certain pedunculated or protruding lesions, such as: lesions of molluscum contagiosum, seborrheic keratosis or condyloma acuminatum.
Minimally invasive method
The instrument used is called a scoop and it is a sharp medical instrument which cuts off the lesions from the skin. The minimal blood loss which occurs is stopped by local compression.
Local anaesthesia is not necessary, but if the procedure is given to children, an anaesthetic cream can be applied 30 minutes before the procedure.
