The dermoscopy is a non-invasive procedure which evaluates the pigmentary and non-pigmentary lesions on the skin.
The instrument used is called a dermoscope and it enhances the image of the lesion by a factor of 10, so as to enable the examiner to perform an in-depth analysis for an early detection of skin cancer.
All patients should undergo a dermatologic consultation at least once a year. The frequency of the examination shall be set after an initial evaluation intended to identify the risk factors (family history of skin cancer, number of burns suffered along the years, Fitzpatrick classification of the skin types).
